AU/NL METALLIC HARDCORE

Sugar Spine is not as sweet as it sounds.

The 4-piece group based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, is making its mark on metal with furious hardcore riffs and soaring choruses.

Exploring themes of self-worth, love, hate and loss, the music sits comfortably in all of these uncomfortable feelings.

HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING

The band originally started as a solo project at the end of 2021 by vocalist Josh Muncke, with the first single Go Outside being written and produced in a 2-week hotel quarantine in Sydney, Australia.

In November 2023, the project became a full group based in NL, ready to hit the stage and unleash their infectious energy.

The group has collaborated with various artists such as Distant, Born of Osiris, Cabal, Bleed From Within and To The Grave, while also sharing the stage with international acts such as Jesus Piece, Breakdown of Sanity, Misery Signals and more.

Sugar Spine's sound is as varied as it is energetic.

Ranging from melodic hardcore ballads that remind one of Casey or Defeater, all the way to spine-snapping breakdowns that would fit on a deathcore album, the sound is unpredictable.

Vocalist Josh Muncke's ability to lash the listener with fierce screams, as well as lull them into a sense of brooding dormancy with his clean vocals, adds an easily identifiable sound to the forefront of the tracks.
